Air Combat Command Demo Salute to Heritage

Each year, Air Combat Command demonstration teams perform Heritage Flights with vintage aircraft at airshows nationwide.

The U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight program presents the evolution of air power at air shows throughout the United States and Canada by flying today's state-of-the-art fighter aircraft, such as the F-22 Raptor, in close formation with vintage fighter aircraft.

Prior to the start of each air show season, the crews for these aircraft practice at the Heritage Flight Conference to hone their teamwork and precision skills.

An HF performance involves a current Air Force fighter piloted by an Air Combat Command single-ship demonstration team pilot and flown with a historical warbird piloted by a trained and certified civilian HF pilot. The program includes eight active duty pilots (six demo team pilots and two QF-4 pilots) along with nine civilians.

The HF formations of modern fighters flying with World War II, Korean, and Vietnam era fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and F-86 Sabre, dramatically display our Air Force air power history and proudly shows the American public the skills and professionalism of their Air Force.

Aircraft showcased from the current Air Force inventory include the F-22 Raptor, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon and A-10 Thunderbolt II.
