Health insurance for state retirees was the focus of the August meeting of the Interim Joint Committee on State Government held in Frankfort. Rep. Joe Fischer, R-Ft. Thomas reports on the decision by the Kentucky Retirement Systems to switch from a self-insured to a provider insurance plan under Medicare, and claims by KRS the switch will save the Commonwealth millions of dollars.
