Arthur T. Rodger was a legend in the world of English Field Bred Springer Spaniels and Field Trials. He became active in training Springers for upland bird hunting and field trialing since living in Denver, Colorado in the 1970's. He later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to work as an Executive Engineer for AK Steel Co. until his retirement in the 1980's. Art continued his active enthusiasm in training and field trialing his field bred English Springer Spaniels until 2004. In 1986, Art became owner and publisher of an international magazine/journal for field Spaniels called 'On the Line'; later changing the name of the publication to 'Spaniels in the Field'. Art traveled all over the US, Canada and the UK for field trials during his many successful years as a Springer Spaniel breeder and handler. Throughout his long tenure in this ESSFT sport, he has acquired many awards, trophies, ribbons and successful accomplishments. His greatest success was the many close and long lasting friendships he established throughout his life. Art passed away in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 83 on February 25, 2009, and will be sorely missed.
